Today, Open Standard launched Open USD (OUSD), issued by Bridge and live on Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo.
OUSD is a new stablecoin designed to help businesses move money more efficiently. Its business model offers low, predictable transaction fees, allows businesses to access OUSD at no additional cost, and enables them to receive rewards by providing qualifying services to the OUSD network. OUSD was created by Open Standard, an independent company founded by Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa and joined by more than 200 partners.
Over the past two years, we’ve built regulated stablecoin issuance and orchestration infrastructure that enables businesses to use stablecoins at scale. Our journey reached another major milestone with the OCC’s conditional approval to establish Bridge National Trust Bank*. OUSD brings this work together and advances the same north star that has guided us from the beginning: making stablecoins work for businesses, not the other way around.
To date, Bridge has issued over $1 billion across dozens of stablecoins, including OUSD.
How to access OUSD
OUSD is open to any type of business moving money, from financial institutions and fintechs to merchants, exchanges, and DeFi companies. Any Open Standard network partner will have direct access to OUSD through Bridge, and it’ll be supported across orchestration, wallets, cards, and FX.
Bridge will not charge fees for minting or redeeming or impose liquidity restrictions that delay those transactions. Our goal is to help businesses use OUSD as seamlessly as fiat and unlock the advantages of stablecoins for themselves and their customers.
Businesses that join Open Standard will also be able to earn rewards on their OUSD balances held at Bridge.
